Geocache Description:

Given the current issues we are facing and how reports suggest that Covid-19 can remain viable and infection of some surfaces for days after contamination can I suggest that people remember to sanitise their hands before and after finding the container and signing the log book. The main priority here is that we should always stay safe.

Locks Hill used to be called Locks Lane but why?

Was it something to do with the proposed spur off the Somerset Coal Canal to enable the weavers of Frome to get their wares to the markets in Bath quicker? In which case was this going to be a flight of locks which would enable the boats to rise up the hillside.

It would have been a serious undertaking to make such a rise happen, but no.

Locks Lane was an old bypass route leading to Keyford, and dates from at least 1698 when a Mr George Lock held considerable property along the track.

So know you know.
