Moist Moccasins Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

brownsbend: Letting this one drift into the sunset after a good run. Too far gone to be able to implement the original premise. Visited the site and removed the old container and associated geotrash. Thanks to everyone who took the time to find it!

Geocache Description:

This traditional cache is followed by three bonus caches, which together are designed to guide you through a nice hike in the area of Tumalo Creek Canyon. I hiked 6.5 miles placing the series, but the final bonus describes a shorter way to return to your car.

When you find this cache, you will find a guidebook. In the first couple of pages of the log, it will tell you how to use that guidebook to find the next cache in the series- and the first bonus- "N.A.S.". It will also describe the best route for you to follow in order to get to that cache. I strongly recommend following the suggested trails throughout this series. Straightline cross-country travel in most places would be extremely ill-advised. Expect mountain bikers, runners, etc., to be sharing some of these trails with you.

In order for others following you to be able to find the caches in this series, please take neither the guidebook nor the pertinent log pages. You may want to bring a notepad along so you can jot down directions.

For this first cache in the series, begin at the suggested parking coordinates. About 130' west, you will notice a numbered road sign. Your trail begins right next to it.

This first one has by far the most difficult terrain of any cache in the series, but it's not too crazy. The easiest approach follows the trail to a switchback all the way at the bottom of the rocks, then climbs around the right side of them. A lot of the rocks in this pile are extremely loose, and this approach avoids all that. If you choose another approach, terrain difficulty could get much higher. You are looking for a wide, flat, snap-lock tupperware.
