Geocache Description:

A ‘Plane’ simple circular.

As we have enjoyed some very good circular walks since we have started Geocaching, we have decided to create a little one of our own. This little circular is roughly 2 miles in length and would take around 2 hours. It starts with an easy cache, then onto a quiet lane with a lovely view near the bottom of Dunkeswell Aerodrome, then onto a well-kept bridal path, and then onto a quiet lane back to the first cache. The route has several different ‘feels’ to it, with some heath, pine forest and more.
When we set the caches, there were an abundance of rabbits, baby lambs and the bluebells will soon be out.
During weekends, Dunkeswell Aerodrome can be a hive of activity, and is a centre for skydiving. During good weather, the skydiving plane will make several flights. A Tiger Moth regularly flies sightseeing trips here to. You will also see gliders soaring above as well.
The aerodrome has a lot of history; it was an American Navy Airbase during World War 2.
The route is very child friendly, though care must be taken on the lanes. Some of the caches can be reached by children, some may need an adults help and there will be some nettles!!!
Please keep dogs under control, as there will be some open fields with livestock to pass through.

Parking Area 1 for circular start. There is parking for 3 or 4 cars in a dirt lay-by at N50 50.959 W003 15.005

Parking Area 2 for circular start. For 1 car at N50 50.663 W003 14.808 but both are uneven.

No.3
Continue along the bridal path from cache no.2, across the well-marked path in the field.
Tree cover ‘confused’ GPS a bit.
An adult will probably have to retrieve this one as it is around head height.
Kids may have fun around the back of the tree….!
There is a First to Find Prize in this one!
