Geocache Description:

Located at the N.T Lumberjacks Hall of fame museum. Happy Caching. If anyone has history they would like me to add please post it in a log like B.S Dru. has done in the past for me, thank you Dru.
Please don't trash the property
In 1893 Professor Frank Beardsley banded together a small group of students to learn the game of “hand rugby”.

In the 1890’s the game of football was a rough and bloody sport characterized by the “flying wedge” formation. Equipment consisted of padded pants and cleated shoes created by the local cobbler. Further padding and headgear would follow in the years to come. North Tonawanda’s football prowess grew quickly.

We hold one of the oldest High School Rivalries in the Nation and one can assume the World. The first game between Tonawanda High School and North Tonawanda High School took place on October 3, 1896. With NT claiming victory 34-0.

The North Tonawanda Football Program has earned the highest respect in the region for its consistent successful program.

Its great tradition and long history forms a bond that stays with a Lumberjack for as long as they live - the experience and pride of Lumberjack Football brings smiles to thousands of faces no matter how far they are from home.
