Problem with Los Oso Valley is it acts as a wind tunnel, funneling all the cool air from the ocean upwind. That means this side from the town of San Luis Obispo, which is on the other side of the mountain chain, is a lot cooler. Also, the wind picks up all the pollen from cypresses, pines, eucalyptus, oaks, and grasses making this area hard on hayfever sufferers, especially during April and May when these plants are releasing their pollen.
