These were once the grand gardens of Hextable House, a mansion
which once stood on the grounds of what is now Hextable Heritage
Centre - and was the only house in the village for much of its life
- until it was bombed during the Second World War.
The nearby Avenue of Limes was planted in Elizabethan times as a
magnificent entranceway to the House, and still remains linking New
Barn Road and College Road. These gardens of the old House, as
would have been seen in its final role as an agricultural college,
are kept up with the aid of Lottery money at the Hextable Heritage
Centre.
While you're here have a look in the Heritage Centre building and
the Gallery to learn more about the history of Hextable.
The cache itself is a small plastic container which held a small
logbook and travel bug at the time of hiding. No pen or pencil, so
please bring your own. Good luck :-)
