Geocache Description:

Cache hidden by our daughter Georgia at the Horseshoe Lagoon Reserve.

The first part of the walk commences by taking the elevated walkway which was constructed in 1988 as part of the Horseshoe Lagoon Bicentennial Park Development. The bridge is 200 metres long and crosses Horseshoe Lagoon. Wild ducks and other fauna inhabit the Lagoon and can be easily seen. A number of plaques describing interesting historical characters and events of the local area are attached to the walkway.

The walkway leads to the the site of the Old Moama Wharf, which was built in 1891 and was in use until 1954. Part of the old pylons can still be seen at low river levels. The track along the river has several vantage points. At normal river level, the foreshore is very sandy and can be inviting on a warm day.

Turning inland from the river the opportunity exists to explore the beautiful wetlands area of Horseshoe Lagoon Bicentennial Park. Many varieties of bird life make this area their home.
