Geocache Description:

The Newtown Forest Association (NFA) will be holding an opening ceremony on June 4th, 2011 at 10:00 for new trails they have made on their Brunot Preserve. The Newtown Bee will be there to cover the event. The NFA has asked the local caching community to help draw attention to the opening.

CT Trails Day Hike at the Brunot Preserve on June 4th:

  • 10 a.m., opening ceremony.
  • 10:30-Noon, guided walk of the new trail.
  • Noon, caching can begin.
  • Help the NFA dedicate a new property acquisition, two new trails, geocaches AND celebrate Connecticut Trails Day by joining us for a guided hike of the Brunot Preserve.

Looking for volunteer opportunities?

NFA is looking for volunteers to assist with trail work on the Brunot Preserve on:

  • Sat., May 14 or Sun., May 15 in the afternoon
  • Sat., May 21 or Sun., May 22 in the afternoon

To help encourage use of the new trail system on this perserve, I've been asked to place caches to honor James and Helen Brunot, who donated this preserve. Mr. Brunot was the man who made Scrabble America's Favorite Word Game. The caches will be published to coincide with the opening.

I will be providing coffee and donuts for the event. I hope you can attend!
