Geocache Description:

This cache is located in a cemetary at the Ridgebury Church in Ridgebury, NY. Please be respectful. The cache is not located on or around a grave site. Please do not attempt this cache after dark.

Ridgebury, New York is one of the eight Hamlets in the town of Wawayanda, New York. The hamlet and its township are located in Orange County, New York, approximately 65 miles north of New York City.

For a time, Ridgebury was also home to Moses D. Stivers (December 30, 1828 - February 2, 1895) , a former U.S. Representative from New York, who moved in 1845 and completed his education there.

In the spring of 2008, the area's natural bodies of water, including Catlin Creek and Ridgebury Lake, were infested with groups of Northern snakehead, a highly predatory fish that has recently been found unintentioally spreading around the United States. In Ridgebury, the snakeheads have been removed with poisoning by the DEC, and all water has been restocked with native species.
.

Again, please be respectful -- the cache is not located in or around a grave site. Please do not attempt this cache after dark.
