Cheung Tsui is in Sai Kung eastern, a wide and open campsite for enjoying sunrise and stargazing.
Back to August 1981, a team of Scout held a 5 days trip to Cheung Tsui, two leaders and six scouts. At the fifth day, 7 of them were watching the big waves on a rock. Suddently five of them were rolled into the sea by a big wave. The tragedy of a total of three deaths and four injuries.
In 1982, someone erected a monument at the incident point. In 2002, a new monument was established at higher place after the original one was damaged by weathering.
There still has other 2 monuments, but I would like to let you to explore.

The length from Sai Wan Pavilion via Sai Wan, Ham Tin, Tai Wan, Tung Wan to Cheung Tsui is ~10km, up and down hill about ~1000m. You can have lunch at Sai Wan or Ham Tin. Cooks at Ham Tin are better but always full house at peak seasons.
The length from Pak Tam Au, Chek Keng, Ham Tin, Tai Wan, Tung Wan to Cheung Tsui is ~12km, up and down hill about ~800m. You can plan lunch at Chek Keng or Ham Tin. Cooks at Ham Tin are better but always full house at peak seasons.
Till 24 Apr 2011, Ham Tin Stores not only provide refreshment, but also provide all camping gears for rental. As recall, one person tent is $100 per night, 2 person is $200, 4 person is $300, not sure if they have bigger tent as well. They also offer speed boat to Wong Shek Pier @$600 per single trip or $90 per person if more than 7.
My last trip started at Diamond Hill, took a Taxi to Sai Wan Pavilion (~$160, a good choice if you are a group of 4 or 5), lunch at Sai Wan, passed Ham Tin, Tai Wan, Tung Wan to Cheung Tsui. Back to Ham Tin for Dinner then via Chek Keng to Pak Tam Au. Got on the last bus 94 from Wong Shek Pier to Sai Kung @ 21:35.
