Geocache Description:

You are looking for a container big enough to hold trade items and travel bugs.

This cache is located at an old oil well drilled by the Pardee Company in the early twenties. The well yielded what was called "water gas" and salt water. The well produced 600,000 gallons of clear salt water per day that was 170*F. From 1925 through about 1938 the well and surrounding area was leased to various people who developed bath houses using water from the well, as it was thought to have healing qualities. Torches using gas from the hot water well illuminated the area. The well lost pressure sometime in the middle thirties and was abandoned. Willamette Industries purchased this land and rediscovered the well. This area was opened to the public in the 1970s.

The well can be seen from this site. Water can still be heard and seen bubbling from the well pipe. It is cool, clear salty water today. Salt can be seen on the ground in the area surrounding the well.

Tree cover is pretty thick in the area surrounding the cache. We averaged the coordinates on our 2 GPS and came up with the published coordinates.
