Geocache Description:

The Townships of Upper Saucon and Lower Saucon, along with the Boroughs of Coopersburg and Hellertown, have been working together to convert the inactive
Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) rail line that runs from
Coopersburg to Hellertown and eventually to Bethlehem – into a regional recreation Trail. Upper Saucon Township recently opened a 2-mile stretch of the Saucon Rail Trail. This first section begins at the Upper Saucon Community Park on Preston Lane, and continues northeast toward the Lower Saucon Township border, where it will join with their section of the Trail, and then Hellertown’s section of the Trail further down the line.

The wide, flat, gentle grade of the Saucon Rail Trail provides an outdoor recreation opportunity for people of all ages and abilities. The Trail promotes family recreation and improves the quality of life for all users. In the coming years, Upper Saucon Township will work cooperatively with Coopersburg Borough to construct the next section of the Rail Trail from the Community Park on Preston Lane south to the Borough, where it will interconnect with the existing sidewalk system. The master vision for the regional Saucon Rail Trail will be to allow residents to use the trail as a recreation outlet, as well as connecting local parks and neighborhoods. In the meantime, get out and enjoy the new Saucon Rail Trail and the recreation trails at the Community Park.

The purpose of this very simple cache is to bring you and your family to the trail. You are looking for a small lock-n-lock container hidden less than 5’ off the trail. Muggles will be everywhere, so please be stealthy and re-hide as well as, or better than, found.

Official parking is at N 40° 32.287 and W 75° 23.240. And please obey all posted park and trail rules. Trail and park open dawn to dusk. No night caching.

All caches placed along this trail require PADCNR ID forms to be filed with the corresponding Township Board. Permission has been granted for this cache.
