The cache is not at the published co-ordinates. These are for the main entrance to the church.
Leyland may appear to be a humdrum small town. But it has a fascinating history. The place to start your search is the graveyard of St Andrew’s Parish Church, where there are some interesting people.
The cache is not suitable for night time geocaching.
The graveyard holds thousands of people but you only need to visit a few of them to find the information required to complete the final co-ords.

27 October 1940, as a result of enemy action:
Cyril Watson aged 41 years, wife Helen aged 40, James 16, Cyril and Robert 14, Helen 13, Frank 11 and Richard Allan ? years old.
A German Junkers aircraft on a mission to bomb Leyland Motors Farington Works, where Morrisons Supermarket now stands, was driven off course by anti-aircraft fire. It continued northwards to Lostock Hall and dropped its bombs on Ward Street, off Watkin Lane. The Watson family of Mum, Dad and six children were sitting down to Sunday tea. The whole family was killed. The total number of fatalities in Ward Street was 25, plus 17 wounded.

The Baldwin family provided long serving clergy at Leyland Parish Church, plus soldiers, mariners, explorers etc., as the British Empire expanded across the globe. Many family members are buried at Leyland. You need to find William Charles Baldwin, a South African Pioneer. “Like Nimrod, a Mighty Hunter before The Lord“, born March ? 1827, died November 07, 1903.

James Sumner lived from 1859 -1924.
Leyland Motors was founded at Sumner’s Smithy, Towngate in 1896. The first vehicle produced was a 30cwt. oil fired steam van.
In the 20th century Leyland trucks and buses became famous throughout the world.
