Geocache Description:

A cache right on the Norfolk/Suffolk border.

The image of a small red hand is part of the heraldic crest of the Aldair family and the story of how it got there goes like this:

The family lived at the now demolished Flixton Hall and the story tells of a young ostler who was so badly beaten by his master that he died from his injuries. As he died the boy left a bloody handprint on the stable wall as testament to his awful treatment.

The manslaughter of a servant was frowned upon (only frowned?!) so it was decided that some form of reproach was in order. So it was that the red hand symbol was added to the family crest as a penance to commemorate the wicked deed.

Homersfield Bridge also happens to be the oldest concrete bridge in the UK.

The cache is a well hidden and not easily accessible nano. In looking for and retrieving this cache you do so entirely at your own risk and the cache owner takes no responsibility for any injuries that may result.

Please be careful when retrieving the cache as any slips could result in it being lost forever!

Happy caching everyone...
