Geocache Description:

Cache is at posted coordinates. Logs that have not met the challenge will be deleted.

The science teacher strikes again! This is a chance to brush up on your chemistry class from high school or college. There are currently 118 different elements, each with a unique symbol. Your task, if you choose to undertake it, is to find 115 of the 118 caches with the chemical symbol in the GC code.

Ok, the rules:
1. Each cache can only be used for one element. If the GC is GC15N2B, you will have to choose which element to use, tin or boron. GCMKPV can be used for potassium or phosphorus or vanadium, not all three.

2. The element symbol letters must be next to each other, not separated by a number. Example, if you are going to use Sn (tin), it must be like GC2V35N not GC1M50N .

3. You do not need to start from zero. Up to 50% of your finds my be previous finds. However, you must find the other 1/2 AFTER the publication date.

4. Caches can be located anywhere in the world, there are no proximity restrictions.

5. All cache types, past and present, can be used for this challenge.

6. Since several letters are not used in GC codes, here are the substitutes. Number 0 (zero) for the letter O. Number 1 may be used in place of I. Use 5 to replace S. V may be used for both V and U . Use 7 in place of L. (so yes, Lu will be 7V).

7. To log the cache, you have a few options. Once you have found your 115 caches create a bookmark and in the notes, list what element you are claiming. You may also make a list and post it to the cache page For the lists include GC#, Cache Name, element name and Date Found. You my make a GPX file and email the CO. Lots of options to report your find. For style points create your own Periodic Table and post it as a picture!

8. If you have any further questions post a note to the cache page or email the Challenge Owner and I will make a note of it for others. If you woud like an excell sheet to track your progress, email me. Good luck on your journey for all of the different elements.
