Geocache Description:

Like its predecessor, a walk around some of the historical areas of Hereford, with a final cache near a little-known historical building. Terrain is city streets, with the final cache being about 2 miles away by road.

This is a multi-stage micro-cache, showing some of the historical features of Hereford.

There are eight locations to find. Answer a simple question at each of these and you will learn the location of the final geocache (you will probably want a car to get to this one - it’s about 2 miles each way).
The walking route is approximately 1.25 miles on paved roads, and starts and finishes at a public car park, but feel free to wander around and investigate the city in more detail!

Answering the eight questions will give you eight numbers, A-H. Put these into the location at the end, and you will be able to find the final cache.

The final location is one of Hereford’s best-kept secrets – if you want to look around inside, the person at the nearby filling station has the key.
The easiest place to park is at Hereford Leisure Pool at N52 03.025, W02 43.028. If the car park's full, there is another car park at N52 03.110, W02 43.108. You will need a pad and a pen! Finally, you’ll probably find that your GPS signal will be a bit ropey occasionally – the clues are easy enough to spot, so just have a furtle around the place and you should get the answer you need.

The first location is N52 03.211, W02 43.122. When you get there, you should be able to find the answer to question A.
A: Members of which medical profession lived here? It it's doctors, the answer is 1, if it’s nurses, the answer is 2 and if it’s dentists, the answer is 3.

Turn right at the junction, on your way to the second location, which can be found at N52 03.267, W02 43.050. The second question is this:
B: Where do the fish come from? If it’s the river, the answer is 1, if it’s the loch, the answer is 2 and if it’s the sea, the answer is 3.
You can now see the cathedral, but you’ll be back here later, so take a quick photo and move on! Make your way to the third location…

The third location is at N52 03.325, W02 43.066, and the question is this:
C: When did the 3 Counties Agricultural Society first meet? If it was 1797, the answer is 7, if it was 1807, the answer is 8 and if it was 1817 the answer is 9. Time to move on...

The fourth location is close by, at N52 03.366, W02 43.045. And your question is this:
D:Which of these military leaders stayed here? If it was Nelson, the answer is 6, if it was The Duke Of Wellington, the answer is 7, and if it was Field Marshall Montgomery, the answer is 8.

The fifth location is at N52 03.386, W02 42.961. Your question?
E: Where would you see The Old Wye Bridge, the Mappa Mundi and the Castle Green? If it’s on the ground, the answer is 0, if it’s on the wall, the answer is 1, and if it’s on a map, the answer is 2.

Stop off for a cup of coffee or a smoothie, if you’re that way inclined, then get yourself along to the sixth location, at N52 03.362 W02 42.964. Then answer this…
F: In which century did this tavern open? Subtract 10 from the century, and on you go!

Continue on to the seventh location, which is N52 03.324, W02 42.967.
G: Who was James Laurence? If he was an Alderman of the city, the answer is 3, if he was a Freeman of the city, the answer is 4, and if he was Mayor of the city, the answer is 5.

You may want to pop into the Cathedral or the Mappa Mundi exhibition at this point - I've been told that the Cathedral has an excellent coffee shop! Either way, it's time to move on to the next location...
It's at N52 03.210, W02 43.079, and your final question is:
H: When was Nell Gwynne’s house demolished? Add the digits together, divide by two, then subtract 6.

Make your way down to the end of the road, and turn left, then keep going until you get back to the car park, and work out the following location.

The location of the cache is at N52 0A.BCD W02 4E.FGH. Note that you’ll want to turn left out of the car park…

The final cache location is close to a little-known local historic site. Feel free to head up the road (you can park around the back) and have a look around.

In order to get access to the inside of the building, you'll need to request the key from the Murco garage on the main road (you drove past it to get here).
