Geocache Description:


The cache is not hidden at the posted coordinates, but you will have the vist them in order to get information to find the final coordinates. In order to get the final coordinates you will be led on a hike around the property. The final coordinates are:
N AB 0D.EF0 W 0HI JK.LMN

The posted coordinates will bring you to the courtyard in front of the memorial visitors center. You will notice several sculpted panels on the the front of the building. Find the panel that represents the time that Lincoln spent in Indiana. Find the year that Lincoln left Indiana and write down the 3rd digit. This is the letter A. Now continue to the next stop.

These coordinates will bring you to a large marker across the parking lot. As you read the marker take special note of the last word in the second paragraph. Count the number of letters in this word and then subtract 1 to get the value of the the letter H.

These coordinates bring you to a marker that contains a fragment of pillar from the house where Lincoln died after being shot. Read the marker and find out the year of Lincoln's death. The second digit is the letter B in the final coordinates.

These coordinates bring you to the cabin site. Read the panel to learn the year that the cabin site was excavated. Add the last two digits to get the letter L in the final coordinates.

These coordinates bring you to the shelter house. While here sit on one of the benches and take a break. If you made it this far you deserve it. You may also want to read some of the signs. One of the signs contains the name of Lincoln's secretary of war. Count the number of letters in his last name. This is the letter K in the final coordinates.

These coordinates bring you to a panel near the pioneer cemtery. Nancy Hanks Lincoln is buried in this cemetery. She died of milksickness in October 1818. Read the panel to find the exact date in October. This is the letter M in the final coordinates.
