Geocache Description:

Congratulations to Norshley on the FTF!

Thanks to chartmaker for the following history surrounding this cemetery. A bit of a lesson about this location, this is one of the oldest cemeteries in the city with tombstones dating back to 1819 and burials likely taking place even before that year. The grounds are said to have spirits which have spoken to investigators of the paranoramal. Also, the site is also tied to one of Canada's worst maritime disasters. Yes, right here in London, when the steam ship "Victoria" capsized on the Thames River on May 24th, 1881 with 182 people losing their lives. A number of those who died are buried in this cemetery along with a number of those who were involved in the War of 1812 in their earlier days, including Phoebe McNames, who is considered the Laura Secord of London. Please be respecful of the area.
