In order to reach this location you'll need to
come up Trabuco Creek part way to the parking area.
At this point you can park (with an Adventure pass).
Nice hike along Falls Canyon creek (less than a mile) from
parking. Not a mountain bike trail, a narrow hiking trail.
Congratulations to GeoFever on the FTF.
Once you park, you'll need to hike through the woods,
over rocks, under big tree limbs, and through the creek
many times. There's all sorts of terrain but GREAT views.
You'll end up with a unveiling of the falls straight ahead.
Actual cache is up and to the right of the falls pool.
It should be easily found BUT try NOT to create an obvious
GeoTrail.
For those REALLY REALLY feeling adventurous, you can take
the trail on the right side of the canyon up and up to the
TOP
of the falls. It's NOT easy, terrain 5 or 5+ due to mud and
cliff.
One of our adventurous hikers did the climb and it took 20
minutes.
One big SAFETY warning for everyone coming up here !!!
DON'T OVER DO your time playing in the waterfall pool.
Water is EXTREMELY COLD and WILL CAUSE HYPOTHERMIA.
When we made the hike to hide this cache, one of the group
had to be AIR LIFTED out to safety. HYPOTHERMIA is no joke.
5 minutes wading in 40 degree water will cause hypothermia.
