Dunham Town is a small village in the metropolitan borough of Trafford, Greater Manchester. However it was historically part of Cheshire and very much has the feel of a small country village. This cache provides the opportunity for a short dawdle around Dunham, collecting numbers. These are then to be used to calculate the co-ordinates of the cache, located on a path a short walk from the village centre.
The listed co-ordinates are for the village hall, and bridge over the Bridgewater Canal, where some of the numbers can be collected. Co-ordinates for St Marks Church are also included. The cache is located at N53 23.ABC W2 23.DEF, substituting as follows:
A – Weight limit for bridge over the Bridgewater Canal, minus 1.
B – Number of people with surname Kinder from Dunham who lost their lives in the 1939-1945 war.
C – Year on church extension’s date stone, 18CC. Please make sure you are in the right century!
D – Number of people with surname Johnson from Dunham who lost their lives in the 1914-1918 war.
E – School by village hall erected in 1E59.
F – Difference between central two digits in second year of village hall centenary.
The cache is a small clip lock Tupperware container, in camouflaged bag, with a few starting swaps.
You can park on roads in the village but do CHECK for any restrictions. Whilst in the area perhaps visit the village’s Dunham Massey Brewery and have a walk around Dunham Massey park.
Cache placed with the kind permission of the National Trust.
