ELDRIDGE OVERLOOK
Eldridge Park in southwest Elmhurst has much to offer. From
this
cache vantage point (off-street parking available along
Spring
Road), one can see west across the park, which makes it a good
spot
to enjoy a summer sunset.
In the Spring, soccer is the first sport played on its
expanse
of athletic fields. (Extreme stealth is required to find this
cache
when soccer games are attracting lots of muggles)
Kite flying is also a common Spring activity. Walking or
jogging
the perimeter path is a popular activity during any season,
which
takes one past a native prairie/wildflower area, along Salt
Creek,
past the sledding hill, tennis courts, roller hockey enclosure,
and
a children’s play area. A drinking fountain is available
at
the northeast corner of the park and a wheelchair accessible
portable toilet is located at the southeast corner.
Across the park foot bridge that spans Salt Creek, one can
enjoy
a baseball field, basketball court, a fishing lagoon/ice
skating
pond, a park recreation building, another children’s
play
area, and a canoe launch in Salt Creek. Additional parking is
available west of Salt Creek.
The Park opens at sunrise and closes at sunset. The full list
of
Park Rules is available at www.epd.org/parkrules.asp
This cache site is wheelchair accessible and the cache
container
will accommodate small Travel Bugs.
