A set of 5 caches placed in the woods near Wickham, Berkshire.
This is one of 5 caches placed in the woods near Wickham. We wanted to make the caches as child friendly as possibly so have placed large containers full of swappable swag! The distances between the caches range from 0.1 miles to 0.15 miles. The caches can be done in any order.
We also felt this series would be good for newbie cachers; we have provided detailed hints in case of GPS inaccuracies.
There are 5 caches in total with one being a fun hide that hopefully will provide a bit more entertainment. My 6 year old daughter has placed one of the caches under her caching name (Sophie World) to commemorate her 1000th cache find.
My children love these woods, they are full of leaves to kick and sticks to drag around. I hope you have as much fun as my two children have had in here. We have a good off-roading buggy that we used easily in these woods, unfortunately the woods aren’t wheelchair friendly.
Each cache is located near a footpath so there isn’t much need to go bushwacking through the undergrowth. Naturally, there will be some nettles and I expect this to increase as the summer months draw closer.
For those that collect trig points, pillar S5823 is located within these woods.
There is a 6th cache in the woods, by all means visit it, but to log it you must have fulfilled the logging requirements of 100 days of continuous caching! If you do pass by, please leave a note on the cache page.
You can park in a choice of two locations. For a shorter walk, please park at (P1) N51 26.459 W001 25.549 and walk the short distance along the main road to the footpath sign (N51 26.492 W001 25.600). Alternatively, you can park near the school in Wickham and walk up through the fields and horses ( P2= N51 26.678 W001 25.839). Parking at P1 is much easier if you have a buggy with you. Parking at P2 involves a 'kissing' gate, so please bear this in mind if you have a pushchair with you.
Happy Caching!
