The cache is a small clip box container containing a log, a pencil and some swappable items. This is the first of a series of five caches and can be done as a circular walk around Shincliffe and High Shincliffe. This cache is accessible by road and there is parking near the cache or at nearby Shincliffe village.
The cache is near the entrance to the drive of the Old School House. In the 1850s there was a school in High Shincliffe, but it became necessary to have larger premises to meet the needs of the rising population. The Dean and Chapter in 1861 gave land at the side of the Bank Foot for a new church school (now a house known as The Old School House) to be built and it continued in use until July 1968 when it was transferred to a new building on what was originally the site of the colliery. In 1962 there was a dire threat that Shincliffe would lose its school, but the people fought a hard battle and won.
