Geocache Description:

This cache brings you to Stephenstown Pond on the outskirts of Dundalk

PHASE1- Stephenstown Pond Project has been developed in three stages. Development work on the disused Stephenstown Pond was carried out in 1995 (it took one year), the Nature Park opened in July, 1996 with a crowd of over 1,300 people present. Visitors surveyed suggested: the inclusion of a coffee shop so that when it rained they had somewhere to go, a playground for children, the cottage on site restored because of its cultural importance and an educational aspect that included wildlife. PHASE2- Phase two of the project, or as it is now more commonly known "The Agnes Burns Cottage & Visitor Centre" that is situated adjacent to Stephenstown Pond Amenity Park. Restoration work started on the derelict cottage in March, 1999 and was completed in the Summer of 2000. The cottage, coffee shop and multimedia educational centre first opened its doors to the public in late August, 2000 The cache is a magnetic nano (slightly larger than a typical nano) A pair of tweezers will be useful to retieve the log from the container. Access to the pond area is free but there is a charge if you want to park in the carpark. There is ample free parking across the road from the site. Be aware that the carpark locked at the posted time (varies from season to season) This area is very popular so please be discreet when finding and replacing the cache to prevent muggles from discovering its location
