This cache is named for Bambi's vivacious, outspoken rabbit friend,
Thumper. It is a small lock-n-lock hidden along the Fawn Lake Trail
and is part of my Bambi cache series.
Fawn Lake Trail is a popular hike in the Lake Pleasant region.
People of all ages enjoy its generally flat terrain and its
destination of Fawn Lake. At Fawn Lake, visitors may enjoy fishing,
swimming and picnicking along its uninhabited shores. There are two
good access points to the lake from the trail. One is found by
following the trail to the left near this cache. The other, which
affords a sandy beach and my Bambi cache, is about a mile farther
down the trail to the right. I encourage you to head to the beach
area and do my Bambi cache if you have the time! Please be advised
that the trail can be quite muddy at times. Proper footwear is a
blessing!
To reach Fawn Lake trailhead, take route 8 to Fish Mountain Road,
just west of the hamlet of Lake Pleasant. Follow Fish Mountain Rd.
to Fawn Lake Rd. You will find the trailhead near the end of Fawn
Lake Rd. (See the coordinates below.)
