Geocache Description:

BYOP, put a few of these micros on the trail for you to enjoy during a bike ride or walk. Phone reception is great here and you may want to bring gloves to keep your fingers from getting poked. It is 2 miles from RD 68 to RD 100. Yep, it is hanging in there.

Bikers ride on the roads to avoid obstacles that city bike paths put in our way. One example of this is the bike path following the bypass around RIchland. There are many bumps along the path and if riding at a 15 to 20 mph pace which is common for bicyclist, the bumps become a major hazard. On the road you can also time lights and get through them without stopping. Bike trails often lead you through some sidewalks as part of the trail which leads to confusion. If you are riding from RD 100 to RD 68 you will see this at the upcoming intersection. When you see then bike path across the road there is not a place to cross unless you go to the busy intersection ahead then cut back to trail entrance. Problem is there aren't any signs explaining that and a new comer to town could miss that and try to cross in middle of one of the busiest roads in Pasco. The goal for a miles grabbing bicyclist is to ride the longest the hardest without stopping, most city bike trails don't offer that. It turns out to be a good thing though. Think about it your traveling at this speed of a snail thinking what a great day it is waiting for your 4 year old to catch up and your wife towing a trailer full of food and driving so slow you could of got the 4 year old to haul it faster if you just put a gummy bear on your rear fender for her to follow. Then WHOSH at 20 mph you just got passed on a bike without seat belts or government approved air bags! All you fell is goosebumps and a sudden moistness in your pants then you ask yourself, "Is the FOOD okay!" You yell for your wife and she yells back, but you know this was your ideal so it was not one of those "I'm okay" yells it is more like a "Why in the Hell do I follow you" yell!. Good news is your daughter is laughing because the sudden speed made her bike sway real funny. Just then you hear "Passing on your left" but it is odd because they already passed, that is when you realize they were going faster than sound. Happy Caching and Biking
