FUTEBOL
A
Associação Desportiva Ovarense é um clube de Portugal, com sede na
cidade de Ovar (Distrito de Aveiro). Após gloriosos tempos na Liga
de Honra, equivalente ao 2º maior escalão português, problemas
financeiros ditaram a 'morte' da Ovarense. Ultrapassado os
problemas financeiros actualmente a Ovarense (Futebol) compete na
Primeira Divisão Distrital de Aveiro.
BASQUETEBOL
Foi
João Gonçalves quem, na década de 70, deu vida à secção de
basquetebol da Associação Desportiva Ovarense. Uma acção meritória
que granjeou prestígio e notoriedade para o clube e para a cidade
de Ovar. Mas também, o basquetebol enquanto modalidade, deve muito
ao pioneirismo e espírito de iniciativa de João Gonçalves, já que
dos resultados da Ovarense e da dinâmica criada em toda a região se
faz muito da história recente do desporto da 'bola ao
cesto'.
Ao
cabo de mais de três décadas, João Gonçalves manteve-se nos corpos
directivos do basquetebol vareiro, ele que funcionou como elemento
aglutinador de uma cada vez mais vasta equipa de trabalho, pondo
todos os dias a sua dedicação, o seu bom senso e a sua
disponibilidade ao serviço do Clube. De tal forma que há mesmo quem
não hesite ao afirmar que 'o basquetebol da Ovarense nasceu com ele
e não pode viver sem ele'.
O
primeiro grande feito do basquetebol vareiro surge na já distante
época de 1976/77 quando garante a subida à II divisão. Uma alegria
reeditada no ano seguinte quando alcança a promoção à I Divisão
onde se mantêm desde 78/79.
Desde
então a Ovarense ganhou: 5 Campeonatos Nacionais (87/88, 99/00,
05/06, 06/07 e 07/08), 2 Taças de Portugal (88/89 e 89/90), 3 Taças
da Liga (91/92; 96/97 e 00/01), 7 Supertaças (87/88, 89/90, 92/93,
99/00, 00/01, 05/06, 06/07 e 07/08), 3 Torneios dos Campeões
(04/05; 06/07 e 07/08) e alguns títulos nos escalões etários da
formação.
Maio
de 1989 fica assinalado como sendo a data da constituição da Liga
de Clubes de Basquetebol, onde a Ovarense surge como fundadora. Uma
posição idêntica à desempenhada no seio da União das Ligas
Europeias de Basquetebol.
Reconhecendo
o trabalho desenvolvido em prol da comunidade e o prestígio que
granjeou para a cidade de Ovar, a Câmara Municipal atribui-lhe a
medalha de Prata de mérito desportivo em 1987 e a medalha de Ouro
de mérito desportivo em 1988. A própria comunidade vareira, por
votação feita no jornal local de maior expansão, atribuiu-lhe, em
cerimónia recente, o prémio para a Colectividade que mais se
distinguiu no âmbito do Associativismo.
Para
ultrapassar problemas de vária ordem, em 24 de Abril de 1996 foi
constituída a ADO - Basquetebol da Associação Desportiva Ovarense,
clube autónomo, com participação maioritária de associados do
clube-mãe que detém, por isso mesmo, os destinos desta nova
associação. Reconhecendo os bons serviços prestados pelo
Basquetebol vareiro, à ADO - Basquetebol foi reconhecida a
Utilidade Pública, em 31 de Agosto de 1999.
E para
satisfazer imperativos do novo ordenamento jurídico - desportivo,
em 18 de Março de 1999, foi constituída uma sociedade anónima
desportiva (SAD) com a participação do clube fundador (ADO-Basq.),
de várias empresas do concelho e da comunidade de
Ovar.

FOOTBALL
The
Sports Association is a club Ovarense of Portugal, based in the
city of Ovar (Aveiro District).
After glorious times in the League of Honour, equivalent to the 2nd
highest-ranking Portuguese, financial problems dictated the 'death'
of Ovarense.
Exceeded the financial problems currently Ovarense (Football) First
Division competes in the District of Aveiro.
BASKETBALL
It
was John Gill who, in the 70's, gave life to the basketball section
of the Sports Association Ovarense.
Meritorious action earned prestige and notoriety to the club and
the city of Ovar.
But, while the basketball mode, owes much to the pioneering and
entrepreneurial spirit of João Gonçalves, since the results of
Ovarense and momentum across the region becomes very recent history
of the sport of 'basketball'.
After
more than three decades, John Gill remained in the body directly
vareiro basketball, he has worked as the glue of an increasingly
large team, putting all the days of his dedication, his common
sense and availability of the service
club.
So that few do not even hesitate to say that 'the basketball
Ovarense born with it and can not live without it.'
The
first great achievement of basketball vareiro arises already far in
season 1976/77 when it guarantees the ascent to the Second
Division.
A joy reissued the following year when it reaches promotion to
Division I where they remain from 78/79.
Since
then Ovarense won: 5 National Championships (87/88, 99/00, 05/06,
06/07 and 07/08), 2 Cups of Portugal (88/89 and 89/90), three
League Cups (
91/92, 96/97 and 00/01), 7 Super Cups (87/88, 89/90, 92/93, 99/00,
00/01, 05/06, 06/07 and 07/08), 3
Tournaments of Champions (05/04, 06/07 and 07/08) and some titles
in the age groups of training.
May
1989 is marked as the date of establishment of the League
Basketball clubs, where Ovarense arises as founder.
The same position as performed within the Union of European Leagues
of Basketball.
Recognizing
the work done for the community and prestige it has earned for the
city of Ovar, the City Council awarded him the Silver Medal of
Merit in 1987 and sports gold medal for sporting merit in
1988.
The community itself vareira, made by vote in the local newspaper
of greatest expansion, awarded him in recent ceremony, the prize
for collecting the most distinguished in the Associations.
To
overcome problems of various kinds, on April 24, 1996 was set up
ADO - Basketball Sports Association Ovarense, independent club,
with a majority of parent members of the club which has, therefore,
the destinies of this new association.
Recognizing the good services provided by Basketball vareiro, the
ADO - Basketball recognized the Public Utility on August 31,
1999.
And
to meet the new legal requirements - sports on March 18, 1999, was
formed a corporation sports (SAD) with the participation of the
club founder (ADO-Basq.), several companies in the municipality and
the community of Ovar .
