Geocache Description:

This is a logsheet only cache. Please put back when done and BYOP

This is Seymour's hopital. It use to be know as Seymour Memorial Hospital but several years ago with some money that was donated to them, they expanded the hospital and renamed it to Schenck.

Thanks to a generous donation in 1910, Mary Schneck (1837-1914) contributed land and $5,000 to build the hospital as a memorial to her late husband, Louis Schneck (1831-1905), one of Seymour's pioneer industrialists.

Jackson County Schneck Memorial Hospital opened its doors in 1911 as a 17-bed facility with the finest staff and equipment available at the time.

Today, Schneck Medical Center is licensed for 114 beds. We employ a highly qualified and caring staff of more than 800 employees, and work with more than 125 physicians of varying specialties. Schneck encompasses more than 260,000 square feet of state-of-the-art facilities and equipment.

Schneck is non-profit institution and provides clinical services to more than 120,000 residents of Southern Indiana. Each year Schneck admits over 5,000 patients, conducts more than 9,000 surgical procedures, performs over 500,000 laboratory tests, sees more than 24,000 emergency cases, and brings more than 600 new lives into the world. Schneck provides dozens of wellness programs, support groups, and healthcare classes for adults and children.
