WAAAF Creek Walk #1
Welcome to another Blacklegend cache...

This is the first of four in a short series along the WAAAF Walk in Tocumwal. The walk is close to the path that the WAAAF women used to take during WW2 while walking from their accommodation to the Tocumwal Airbase. Below is an image from the information board, and rather than repeating the information, all the information is contained within it

The walk begins close to town and finishes near the golf course in Tocumwal, a distance of 1.6 kilometers, or 3.2 return. The four caches can be approached by road or dirt track for shorter walks, but i walked this with the twins, James and Jemma, and it was a pleasant walk.
At the start of the walk, there is an information board with some maps, including a very interesting one showing the layout of the airfield both during WW2 and now. The other map is of the creek walk itself.
I have been living in town for 5 years, and have passed this spot, but never knew the length of the walk or its importance. Now I do. Below is a map of the creek walk

The cache is a 200mm Sistema container hidden in a fairly normal Aussie caching manner in the bush. Once again, have fun and be careful with the kiddies near the water. Also being near water, and in the bush, BE CAREFUL AND ON THE LOOKOUT FOR SNAKES, ESPECIALLY WITH THE KIDS. This is a high muggle location due to the main road and the nearby houses / holiday units. Good luck and importantly, have fun.
