Ganoush Family Tree Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Highlander 71: The time has come to slip this Solanum melongena into the great geo-compost pile in the sky. Two and a half years later, the 63 finds + 8 favourites make the year and a half I spent searching for the container more than worthwhile. Thanks to all who came looking, found or not!

EDIT (to get my numbers right): Make that 83 finds + 9 favourites! You'd never know math was my best subject...

Geocache Description:

Baba Ganoush is an Eastern Mediterranean dish which features eggplant, or aubergine, as its main ingredient. The eggplant is usually broiled or roasted over an open flame before being peeled and diced, or pureed with tahini. The open flame imparts a smoky flavour to the pulp, and the array of spices used in it varies by region. Baba Ganoush is eaten primarily as a dip, but it can also be served as an appetizer, salad, or side dish.

Bubba Ganoush, on the other hand, is a name that is quite familiar to cachers in the Lower Mainland of BC, and while it is unclear how Mr Gigabyte came to be acquainted with the Ganoush Family, it is apparent he holds them in high regard as quite a few of his cache hides have been placed by the aforementioned Bubba, wife Barbara, or young son Bobby. Even Bubba's younger brother Buddy and his main squeeze Bubbles have participated, but so far I have seen no sign of any new caches from the latest member of the clan, Baby Ganoush.

I have intentionally left out all specific details about the container. Suffice to say it is completely unique. I'm sure I can confidently state there is no other geocaching container exactly like this anywhere in the world!

Because there is no hint given, you must sharpen your geosenses and be on your toes to find this cache. When I found this spot I knew it would be a great location for the Ganoush Family Tree. IMPORTANT NOTE: I recommend you do not attempt to reach GZ from East Third Street. In some aerial photos there might appear to be a trail going up the hill, but no such trail exists. Taking that route needlessly increases the terrain rating to 4 stars. Use the paved lane.

When you find the cache, PLEASE handle the container with extreme care. Because it is unique, finding a replacement would be very challenging indeed. It took me nearly a year to find this one, then many hours of work went into getting it ready.

I hope you enjoy this cache hunt, and perhaps on your way home you can stop off at a nice restaurant to celebrate with a little Baba Ganoush!
