This is a cache placed in memory of the first cache I ever hid in Tuscaloosa, Alberta City Cemetery GC1C1KH that was blown away by the EF4 tornado on April 27, 2011. My house was only 1-1/2 blocks away, but I lived. I still cry.
Use stealth. Do not do this one at night. BYOP
Please be respectful of the souls whose earthly remains rest here. During the Great Depression of the 1930's this ground was used as a pauper's field.
The terrain here was intially rated as a 1, but now a 1.5. In those early days after the tornado, it would have been a 5! But the big trucks came on May 19th and removed the pile of trees that were stacked out outside the cemetery entrance. You can go in through the front gate now but be careful and watch your step. They found the historical marker buried under the debris and leaned it against the inside of the fence. Be sure to read it if it is still there.
We had a CITO here in May of 2011 to remove thousands of shingles and other debris that covered the graves and surrounding grass. It was a labor of love.
Please try to secure the cache and its camo firmly back in place before you leave, as it tends to be susceptible to the wind. Thanks.
