Geocache Description:

Here is a cache to diversify the cache types in this area. It's a letterbox hybrid cache in the Park.

There is an old picnic area up the hill at Living Memorial Park. You can park right nearby or you can park at the bottom and walk up. The Park is open dawn to dusk, daily.

The Clues
There are a few old fireplaces in the old picnic area. To the right of the parking area, look for an old fireplace with a stone on top of it. Stand next to the back of the old fireplace and look uphill parallel to the road (the edge of the woods). Walk about 60 feet (67 ft at 275 degrees if you want to do a projection). Although hidden from sight, you will find another old fireplace covered by trees.

You will find a quart-sized camouflaged container. The ink pad and a letterbox ink stamp are missing until I can replace them. Please sign the log (or stamp it, if you have a personal stamp) and exchange swag items, if you wish.

The area has been cleared a bit, since I placed this, and now there are disc golf tees, trails, and baskets in the area. Watch for players and flying discs.

In addition to disc golf there is a dog park and a skatepark in the area.

The cache may not be winter-friendly. Also, the park road to the old picnic area is closed during the winter. In that case, park at the entrance to the park or at the skating rink.

Letterboxing is an activity similar to geocaching, but seekers use clues to find a box. Geocachers use coordinates (and clues) to find a cache. Letterboxers use the stamp inside to stamp their personal log book and use their personal stamp to stamp the log book in the box to show they've been there. This geocache is also listed as a letterbox on the following sites. More information about letterboxes in this area can be found at atlasquest.com and letterboxing.org.
