Wee Jasper is a beautiful quiet country village on the shores of the Goodradigbee River. There's an intersting old pub in the village which has recently re-opened under new management. Worth a visit inside even if not to have a drink.
The Wee Jasper camping area near the cache is called TrackHead and also used to be called the Rodeo Ground many years ago. Apart from abseiling, there's plenty of caves and quite a few trails for hiking.
The cache location is known as Devil's Punchbowl. Many year's ago this was a cave connected to Punchbowl Cave, but has since collapsed. This has now provided an excellent abseiling spot for both novice and experienced. On the walk from the carpark you also go past a number of named cave entrances: Dogleg, Enigma, Signature and Punchbowl Caves. Punchbowl Cave has a dangerous sloping entrance that ends in a 30 metre drop, so be careful in there. And there are a number of marked and unmarked caves of smaller sizes in the general area too.
Around the top of Devil's Punchbowl is the rare Wee Jasper Grevillea Iaspicula. Apparently there are less than 10 bushes known to be in existence and 5 of them are in this location. It is listed as critically endangered by Environment NSW. Enjoy the view from this location, while under your feet, inside this small hill, are two enormous caves. Both caves (Punchbowl & Signature)are ten times larger than Devil's Punchbowl.
