This P&G is a paddle & groan located near the Roanoke Sound on the Nags Head side of Roanoke Island. Original container was most likely taken by the Osprey. Log only BYOP
Canoe, kayak, or raft needed to earn this Smilie, but you must get out of the vessel to make the find. You may groan when you get there and view the terrain. There was at one time a trail. Some maps show a sandbar close by but that area of beach has migrated southeast. If you drop it (like I did placing it) you should have no trouble finding the place to return it.
Please DO NOT go near the Osprey nest. Original cache was probably eaten by them so to preserve this cache it's been moved further away and onto land . . . if you want to call it that.
Cache may be easy to spot but not easy to get to once you get nearby . . . or not. You are looking for a pill bottle camouflaged to blend in with the surroundings. GPS accuracy was 11ft at placement so I only took a couple of readings for a location average. If you read the logs you will see that getting the coords entered correctly was another matter. Cache placed with permission but there is no need to wander up the hill because then you would be in unwanted territory.
The Roanoke Sound is a body of water that separates Roanoke Island from the long, narrow barrier peninsula known as that forms the northern most portion of the Outer Banks of North Carolina. To the north of the Roanoke Sound lies the Albemarle Sound and to the south lies the Pamlico Sound.
