“The Secret training ground”
Exploring the area one fine day, I happened across this pitch and had a chuckle to myself wondering if the pipe dreams of future Phoenix and / or All Whites could start here. The players would be able to go through their training paces on this turf, safe in the knowledge that nobody (other than those who have a grand stand view) would know about the efforts being put in, or the hand wringing being done by the coaches as they see their contributions to this round ball game come to fruition.
Once you reach the far bleachers and finding your spot to survey the field, you'll find due to obstructions, a westward shuffle of about 15m will be required so you can see the players. Finding your seat may require a bit of row hopping and swinging about but it shouldn't be all that hard. Enjoy the game but leaving before the training is completed will mean you won't be able to place your autograph on the team shirt.
As with all outdoor sports, if the ground is wet it might be better to postpone the visit and reschedule for another day, otherwise your training gear could get a bit muddy.
The team shirt is in a medium sized sports bag disguised in the Armys team colours. Bringing your own pen/pencil would be recommended to place your autograph.
Please note that you must sign the team shirt for each individual player or proof of a photo for group visits, otherwise your autograph may be deleted. It would be appreciated if you would please securely hide the sports bag back in its possie, as we really don't want it to get pinched by the muggle team of players.
