Geocache Description:

Welcome to the North Vancouver Public Art Geocache experience! The Arts Office is dedicated to preserving and expanding the celebrated public art collections of both the City and the District of North Vancouver, and through this series of caches we are pleased to be able to showcase some wonderful examples of public art that can be found across the North Shore.

Trees & Trail Markers: Art.Site (artistic team: Claudia Cuesta & Bill Baker) - 2010

The art to be found here, as the title suggests, is comprised of two parts:
Trees - The art gates that adorn the perimeter of the Wedgewood townhome development work together to create a form of visual poetry that expresses the rhythms of the forest in nearby Inter River Park. This forest is an increasingly uncommon example of a big leaf maple river delta ecosystem.

Trail Markers - Two large boulders mark the end of the Lillooet Cattle Trail. Completed in 1887, the trail was built through one of the most rugged sections of BC, to bring cattle from the lush grasslands of Lillooet to markets in Vancouver. Unfortunately, the trail saw only one cattle drive as the terrain proved far too difficult for the animals to traverse. Check out the link posted above if you'd like to read more about the trail.

Take some time to enjoy the art, take some photos (but please respect the privacy of the residents), post your comments, and don't forget to tell me what you think of these pieces or the cache.

You are looking for a small spray painted L&L container with log book, pencil, and assorted swag items. There is no need to enter onto private property. The cache can be reached from the sidewalk. Unfortunately, some visitors choose to leave their trash at GZ so please exercise caution while you search for the cache. If you have time for a little CITO I'm sure the neighbours would appreciate it, but you'll have to bring your own bags.

As always have a great geocache time and I hope you have a chance to visit the other public art locations around the North Shore.
