Fancy a trip a daytrip to the seaside? Why not take the train and visit sunny Mornington? This is a series of caches tracing the old railway line into Mornington, each with clues to locate a mystery final cache located near the end of the line.
The Mornington-Baxter branch line was a rural railway branching off from the Frankston to Stony Point railway line at Baxter. The line had a life of 92 years, opening in 1889 and closing in 1981. Mornington Railway Preservation Society was formed in 1984 and after restoring the K163 locomotive and extensive track restoration the line reopened as a tourist railway in 1998.
Please note that this railway in parts is a working railway. Real dangers exist in walking along the line, so the caches in this series are not hidden on the railway line itself. No trains run on the track at this point and a shared path means you can walk for some distance adjacent to the railway.
