Bull Point Lighthouse Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

TheStickyLabel: Dear cachers.
Having already given over a months notice, I am sad to say that I am archiving this cache as my husband and I are moving from the Westcountry to live nearer to our family.
Thank you to all those who have found this cache and sorry to those who have not had the chance.
I have thoroughly enjoyed looking after my caches around North Devon but it is time to give them up and move on.
On collecting them in, if I come across any geocoins or TBs, I will place them in an active cache to keep them travelling.
All the best
Bev (TheStickyLabel)

Geocache Description:

Bull Point lighthouse is situated about a mile north of Mortehoe. The original lighthouse was constructed in 1879 after an appeal was made for one.
A foghorn was added in 1919 and electricity was installed in 1960. In 1972 the headland on which the lighthouse stood subsided making the structure dangerous and the foghorn out of action.
For two years an old light tower was used while a new structure was built further inland. The completion cost came to £71,000
In 1988 the foghorn was switched off and the lighthouse was automated in 1995.
It shows 3 white flashes every 10 seconds and a continuous red hazard light showing westward over Rockham Shoal.

There is parking available in the village of Mortehoe.
I have given it the higher rating of 3.5 as though you are approaching from Morte Point direction on the coast path, a more challenging walk and with stunning scenery but if you are taking the gentler route from the village, (sorry, no cars permitted along Lighthouse Road.. foot access and bikes only), then I would rate it as a 2 - A beautiful gentle walk on the latter route will take you all the way to the lighthouse with some lovely views on the way.

I have very kindly been given permission to place this cache by the National Trust Head Ranger.

The cache is a 3x3 lock top box in a camouflaged bag and is a short distance from the lighthouse.
If you take something out, PLEASE put something back in (not junk though) thank you.
