Geocache Description:

The Variety Pack Event

This is a simple New Cache Release, Kick-off event, combining two of our favorite things to do...Eat and go Caching!

The space between Mason and Jackson is nearly empty of caches.  My goal is to remedy that situation over the next couple seasons.  I will release no fewer than 20 new caches (hopefully more) in Leslie and the surrounding area for this event.

The Details

Date:  Saturday, July 9, 2011
Location:  Leslie Depot Diner (Bellevue st. at the tracks)
Time:
         8:00  Breakfast-Meet and Greet
9:00  Distribute cache details and FTF drawing.
         9:07 Go caching.

Nothing fancy afterward.  Just cache until you can't stand it any more and spend the rest of your day any way you want.

Cache details and area maps will be provided on paper.  GPX files will be available on USB flash drives if you want to bring your computer.  If your GPSr won't load GPX files, I will have my the caches loaded into GSAK on my laptop for uploading (sorry, no serial port).

There WILL be a "Final" puzzle cache.  To encourage Bike-O-Caching, all Final puzzle clues will be less than 2 miles from downtown Leslie.

Why is this event called "The Variety Pack"?
I plan to have as much fun setting up this cluster of caches as you will have finding them.  With that in mind, this series will be a variety pack of containers and hide techniques.  I pledge that each cache container and hide will be different from all the others in the series.  Some of them will be rip-offs of the more unique caches I have run across, while others will be Jeepers originals and unique to the day.  Terrain and Difficulty on some will be quite easy, while others may be more difficult.  Most will be traditional caches, while a few may be multi-caches.

I also encourage you to add a little variety to your caching team.  Why not connect with someone new during breakfast and go caching together?

Please RSVP
While the Leslie Depot Diner is a fair sized restaurant, the owner has asked me to give them a heads up on our event.  You are under no obligation to purchase their food (but be considerate about not bringing in food from outside).  If you are planning to eat breakfast at the Depot before caching, please indicate how many will be dining with you in your "Will Attend" log.  This will allow them to make sure they are adequately staffed.  (Note:  They indicate that they are usually slow at 8:00, but business increases closer to 9:00 on Saturdays.

Variety Pack Map
UPDATE 7-3-2011:
The current count is 43 new caches (possibly more?)  5 existing caches, and 8 USGS Benchmarks.  See the new map.

UPDATE 6-29-2011:
This morning we submitted 23 caches in Leslie (within 2 miles of downtown), 14 caches in the Rives Junction/Onondaga area, and have 7 Benchmarks located and ready for you Benchmark Finders. Will there be more? Possibly. See you at the Event.

UPDATE: 6-7-2011- I am teaming up with The Pirate Captain on this event. In addition to my 20+ caches in the Leslie area, he will be adding a cluster of caches in the Onondaga and Rives Jct. areas. All of the caches will be released together at 9:00.
