The garden is in a small plot of land sandwiched between the cement works and the river Ancholme. It is surrounded by a thick hedge with a gate on the east and west sides. Because of this hedge, it can't easily be seen from the road, and many people pass by every day and don't know it's there! It's open to the public, and was provided for the people of South Ferriby to enjoy. The upkeep was originally shared by the Village Council, the Cement Works, and the Water Board. However due to economic forces and the recession, the once proud 'Japanese' Garden has been a shadow of it's former self. Work has begun on its restoration, and it's now starting to look really nice again!
**Update 2018**
The maintenance stopped some time ago and unfortunately it is not looking as good as it should or once did! Shame! Until any real maintenance is done, access is best achieved through the West gate, which is the gate closest to the cache anyway! This can be a cache and dash, or you can explore the Humber Bank and stop for a drink and a sandwich here, or at the nearby pub if open, (due to Covid-19).
