Geocache Description:

Welcome to Buckridge Park
!!!This cache is a canoe only cache!!!

Attention:
Many maps will show Buckridge Park as a park located to the west of these posted coordinates...that is NOT Buckridge Park...I repeat...the indicated location on many maps shows Buckridge Park in the wrong location!!!
As an example...the map shown here is incorrect...

The park area shown in green in this map is actually a private park maintained by local residents...
...it is NOT Buckridge Park!!!

Staff with the Rochester Parks and Rec Department and have confirmed the location of Buckridge Park. The map shown here is correct...though my drawing leaves a bit to be desired!!!

Trust your GPS and the posted coordinates (my topo map on my GPS shows the actual location of the park...but, I don't know if yours does), this cache is located on the Eastern edge of Buckridge Park along the Zumbro River!!!

About Buckridge Park:
The 13 acre former gravel quarry site known as Buckridge Park was donated to the City of Rochester in 1985. The area is undeveloped and presently inaccessible to the general public except by canoe via the Zumbro River. There are no plans for immediate development of the property.

According to city records, the location of Buckridge Park is described as follows...
"That part of the Southeast Quarter of the Northwest Quarter of Section 12, Township 107 North, Range 14 West, Olmsted County, Minnesota, lying westerly of the Zumbro River."

As a reminder, the park is inaccessible without a canoe (as it is surrounded by private land) and you will see a number of "No Trespassing" signs...stay on the Zumbro River side of those signs and you will be fine...this was also stated by City Park Staff during research of Buckridge Park.

About the Attributes:
-No Parking...No Parking is available other than at the Zumbro River Canoe Access Points...other than by way of the Zumbro River, this park is not accessible to the general public.
-Not Less Than an Hour...From Canoe in to Canoe Out...it took more than an hour for placement.
-Boat Required...well...a canoe!!!
-Less Than 10 Kilometer Hike...well...yes, the hike is short once near the cache (about 200ft) but the canoe trip is between 2 and 3 miles one way from the recommended Essex Park Zumbro River Access (sorry...didn't measure that).
-Scenic View...the Zumbro River offers some great views of areas not normally seen along the way.
