The Club is a coalition of dues paying members who live on and
maintain the grounds. They have been known to host a fish fry or
two but generally keep to themselves. The cache is located
somewhere on the small peninsula behind the clubhouse. Parking is
located near the clubhouse (see waypoint). Please park in the
clubhouse area and do not drive into the residential portion of the
club grounds.
The cache you are looking for is a small black plastic tube that
is just big enough for the paper log only. Please bring your own
pen to sign the log. Also, take care when opening the tube –
there is a lifter installed to help get the scroll out without
damaging it. Please replace this exactly as you find it so the next
cacher will be able to get it out easily as well. :-)
Just after this sign the road splits, and the clubhouse is to
your right.
You may note while on club grounds that many of the members have
well-stocked bird feeders. Article 3 Paragraph 1 of the club bylaws
reads as follows:
1. And it shall be the duty
of this club to raise as many game birds as possible to be released
in the vicinity of TERRE HAUTE, INDIANA. It shall be the duty of
every member to protect all wild life as much as possible, and to
provide food for them in winter when food is scarce.
Surprisingly perhaps for a club with this name - hunting is not
allowed on club property. The Sportsmen are really Fishermen
disguised as Bird Lovers. Cache placed with permission of the
club.
