The year was 1967. The big screen was ablaze with “The Dirty Dozen”. It was really 3 movies in one. The first movie was the humor of training. This was attached to “The Test” with tape. Finally, “The Mission” was added to make a full length feature film. This movie was MGM’s biggest money maker of the year. This series of 12 caches remembers many of the actors from the film.
Vernon Pinkley was played by Donald Sutherland. Yes the same guy who played Hawkeye Pierce in the movie version of M*A*S*H, Sgt. Oddball in Kelly's Hero, and Jerry O'Neill in Space Cowboys. In the Dirty Dozen, his character was a near idiot and he played the part so well.
If you have to go from Mt. Pleasant to Talco or vise versa, why not take the back road and pick up a few smileys. All of the caches are along Greenhill Road. A cammoed pill bottle is just waiting for you. You will need to bring a pen to sign the log.
