Loch of Blairs
lies to the south of Forres on the A940 Forres/Grantown road. Find
the loch on OS Map 27, Nairn, Scale:1:50,000 at grid reference
022555. The loch, situated in a private estate, is leased, managed
and cared for by Moray Council.
Unlike most wild northern waters, Loch of Blairs is gently
accommodating. Access is easy and visitors can step almost straight
from the car and into the boat. The loch is 50 acres in extent and
surrounded by mature woodlands.
The loch itself is home to a wide range of waterfowl, and a
convenient larder for ospreys which may sometimes be seen taking
the odd fish home for supper.
Your GPS might go a bit wild in the trees, but if it asks you to
turn off the main path towards the loch you should be in the right
place and your view will be as in the picture above...;-)
