After crossing the boardwalk, simply follow the path. It ducks and dives then starts to climb up alongside a wall before heading out onto the clear fell. As part of the current efficiency drive, the path doubles up as an extra stream on wet days! No problem though, just watch out for slippery rocks in one or two places.
As you reach the top, you leave the trees behind for a while and the view opens out dramatically. Do try and visit on a clear day!
The fell has a lot of bilberry, bluebells and grass around small outcrops of the local Silurian sedimentary rocks. It's been tilted and some of the layers erode to leave handy crevices. A small note: you're unlikely to see any adders, but on a sunny day there's a small possibility of coming across one sunbathing on a knoll. It's also worth checking for tics during and after your walk.
After finding the cache and enjoying the views, onwards to Oak Bottom.
