Geocache Description:

YCGS thought it would be a great idea to place 100 caches all over York County, PA and have them all published on one day! Let's face it the gas prices are out of this world, so why not spend the day in York County where you will be able to find 100 new caches. Make a weekend of it and bring the family to enjoy the sights of York County PA. These caches will take you to some very cool places and you might even learn a little bit about York along the way.

This cache is to draw attention to two historic buildings in Hanover. Should be an easy find. These buildings have special interest to me. I spent my first 6 years of school at Walnut St. and worked for 3 years at the old Post Office. Cache was placed with permission of building owners. BYOP

To the Northwest of GZ is the old Post Office building, built in 1912, and used as the main Post Office until about 1969. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (See picture below)

To the Southeast is the former Walnut Street Elementary school, built in 1904 and used until 1964. It was then an administration building for the Hanover District. (See picture below)

Prior to this building was the original Walnut Street School built in 1852 and razed to build the present structure. (See picture below)

Congratulations to Spyromaniacs and Rocket&YarnGirl for FTF
