Across the 403 from here there is a farm house. It belongs to
Harold & Pearl Wade my wife's aunt & uncle.
I thought it appropriate to make this cache a tribute to him a
couple weeks after his passing.
He and his father used to milk Guernsey cows in the barn across
the road. Then they sold the cattle and just stuck to cash
cropping. Much of meadowlands was there farm land with trees, corn,
wheat and oats as far as you could see.
They farmed to the south as far as the old Ancaster Fair grounds
and over to the Linc.
I'm sure they sold for okay money but before you think they are
Billionaires as you look across meadowlands realize that they sold
in the late 1960s. It was sold to realtor Alec Murray with a
condition of being able to work the land until it was developed.
Each year their farm shrunk as the meadowlands grew until it wasn't
large enough to be worth farming. Some parts of the residential
area was in corn as little as 20 years ago.
I will try to get hold of a picture or 2 for this page in the
future so please check back in. Mean while please enjoy the hide
and look around and 'just imagine!'
