A short hike.
DO NOT STOP OR PARK ON SOLEDAD MTN. RD
I grew up just across the road at the bottom of Pacifica.
My parents moved to PB when I was three.
My first day at the preschool down the street I cried most of the day.
They thought I missed my mommy,
but I had in fact broken my leg falling off the jungle gym.
Soledad Mtn. Rd ended at Beryl, this was all canyon still.
There was a short-cut my dad would take so he wouldn’t have to drive around the hill. At the end of Randall there was a short dirt road, the Baptist church wasn’t there yet, that would bring you out at Felspar and on to Garnet.
I remember that some older boys had built a tree fort in this area.
I used to walk to Kate Sessions Elementary, when I didn’t get a ride,
through the canyon. Later, when at PBJH, I would walk down this path and cross Soledad Mtn. Rd, which wasn’t so busy back then, to get home.
Things have changed. Enjoy the hide site and the cache.
