Radon is a chemical
element with symbol Rn and it has an atomic number of 86. It
is a radioactive, colorless, odorless, tasteless noble gas,
occurring naturally as the decay product of
uranium.
Things you
might not know about Radon:
- Radon is often
the single largest contributor to an individual's background
radiation dose.
- The highest
average radon concentrations in the United States are found in Iowa
and in the Appalachian Mountain areas in southeastern
Pennsylvania.
- Indoor radon
can be mitigated by sub-slab depressurization and exhausting such
radon-laden air to the outdoors, away from windows and other
building openings.
