WOT NO FOUNTAIN! Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Dalesman: This cache has been in need of care and maintenance for some time and as the owner has not repaired it I am archiving it.

Guidelines: "You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to maintain proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable amount of time - normally a few weeks - in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing."

If you wish to email me please send your email via my profile (click on my name) and quote the cache name and number.

Geocache Description:

Many years ago (even before my time) a fountain stood in the centre of Ossett (see link).

The bottom half was relocated here for want of anywhere better to put it. It stood in the centre of the rose garden and the troughs, once full of water “for cattle and dogs”, were filled with soil and bedding plants. Despite a few attempts, chiefly when the town centre was pedestrianised, to move it back to its rightful place it was left here neglected. For the first time in years I walked through here recently and now only a tiny relic remains, complete with the town crest and other small carvings.

The cache is only big enough for a log so bring a pen
